I also pulled up two or three bushel basket-loads of weeds from the strip flowerbed along the gravel lane and from around the row of mailboxes.
When I saw the QAL coming up in the grass behind the mailboxes, I just didn't have the heart to mow them down. I so wish I could get it to grow in my flowerbeds rather than out in my lawn.
They did leave me with a problem though: Other weeds came up with them! I spent the better part of thirty minutes right before dark last night pulling up some young Johnson grass and poke-weed from amongst the QAL so that my Hubby wouldn't be tempted to weed-eat everything right down to the ground.
When I finally got my evening's quota of mowing down, it was nearly ten o'clock but my chores weren't done yet. Hubby reminded me that I needed to go fill up Shadow Cat and all our empty gas cans because gas prices had begun jumping thirty cents a gallon this afternoon. Luckily for us, there's a nearby convenience store that is nearly always the last one in town to raise its gas prices. (I paid $2.09 a gallon rather than $2.39.) So now our truck and car as well as all our motorized garden tools are full of gas. What surprised me were all the people who were there filling up their cars and gas cans even that late at night.
After I got my gas, I went to the Subway and got myself a footlong steak and cheese sandwich--overstuffed with lots of veggies naturally--and there were a lot of people in there too. Seems like I'm one of a large crowd of people who wait to eat their suppers until AFTER the sun goes down.
Got home, sat down to watch a Netflix movie while I ate part of my sandwich. I managed to eat a third of it before I fell sound asleep.
Woke up at two am, loaded up the dishwasher, sat down to eat some more of my sandwich while I tried to watch something else on Netflix and I fell asleep again!
So that's my cure for insomnia: Eat a Subway sandwich while watching a Netflix movie. Works every time for me. Almost as good is one of those long-playing rain and thunder recordings on youtube.
